What We Know About You, Which Is Almost Nothing
What we do not have
- Your name, email or account. There is no signup and no login, so there is nothing to keep.
- Your Facebook identity. You are never logging into Facebook here. The site cannot see your Facebook session, your profile, or your friends.
- Your location. No map, no city, no device fingerprint. An IP address is counted for an hour and dropped.
- A history of what you pasted. Links are not written to a database against a person.
- Your files. Downloads stream from Facebook through us to you. Nothing is written to a disk on our side.
What is actually held, briefly
- An IP address in memory, to count fetches for the hourly and daily limit. It is not stored beyond that window and not tied to a link.
- A short lived cache of file addresses, keyed by the Facebook link, not by you, so ten people pasting the same public reel are not costing ten fetches. It expires on its own.
- Ordinary web server logs, the kind every server keeps, rotated and not analysed for people.
- Analytics, if enabled, which is seeing a page view and a rough country, and nothing about your Facebook account. See the cookies page.
We Do Not Know Who You Are
Understand this first, because every other line on this page is following from it. Picazor has no accounts. You are not giving us a name, an email, or a password, and you are not logging into Facebook through us. The tool is reading public Facebook pages from our own server with our own access, so your Facebook identity is never touching the site. We could not tell you who pasted a link this morning if you asked us, because the information was never collected.
We Do Not Know Where You Are From
An IP address is arriving with every request, the way it arrives at every website on earth. We are using it for one thing, counting. Twenty fetches an hour, a hundred a day, so a script cannot turn the tool into a scraping farm. The count is living in the server's memory and it is gone when the window closes. It is not being written to a database, not being joined to the link you pasted, and not being turned into a map. If analytics is running it is seeing a country at most, the way the Google Analytics dashboard shows a country, and that is the end of what anyone here can see about where you are.
We Do Not Know Whose Link You Pasted
The link is being used once, to fetch the file. There is a short lived cache of file addresses so that the same public post pasted by many people in the same hour is not hammering Facebook many times, and that cache is keyed by the Facebook link, not by the person who pasted it. It expires on its own. There is no way to map a link to a person from that, and it was built so that there is not.
There Is Nothing to Sell, So We Are Not Selling It
Every privacy policy on the internet is promising not to sell your data. Ours is a smaller promise and a truer one. We are not holding your data, so the question of selling it is not arising. No advertising profile, no data broker, no partner feed, no email list. The only company in the arrangement is Capital Technologies LTD, which is running the site, and it is not passing anything to anyone because there is nothing in its hands to pass.
We Are Not Working With Any Government Agency
No data sharing arrangement exists with any government, police force, or agency, in any country, and none is being sought. If a lawful request is arriving, it is being answered honestly, and the honest answer for almost any request is that the information does not exist here. Where an agency or a rights holder is asking us to block a region or an IP range from using the tool, that is a block, not a report, and it is handled through the process on the DMCA page.
Open Source, Which Is the Point
Picazor is run as an open source project, and that is the strongest privacy statement on this page, because a policy is a promise and code is a fact. The way the tool handles a link is readable, the absence of a user table is readable, and anyone who is doubting a sentence here is welcome to check the code rather than take our word for it.
Analytics and Cookies
The site may run Google Analytics to see which pages are being read and from roughly where. That is the only third party script on the site, it is seeing page views and not Facebook accounts, and the cookies it may set are listed on the cookies page with how to refuse them. The tool itself is setting no cookie of its own.
Your Rights, and the Short Version of Them
Under GDPR, the UK GDPR and California's CCPA you are having the right to see, correct, export and delete personal data a service holds about you. Here the export is empty, because nothing is held under your name, and the deletion is already done, because nothing was kept. Changes to This Page
If the way the site handles data changes, this page changes first and the review date at the top moves. We are not burying a change in a long document. It is a short one on purpose.
